The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Special Weather Statement for the area Thursday night into Friday.According to the NWS, arctic air precipitation will develop toward the Ohio River and far western Kentucky Thursday night with freezing rain and sleet most likely. It's possible, by Friday morning, snow will mix in with the sleet/freezing rain. The wintry mix will make its way east Friday over the rest of western Kentucky as another wave of precipitation will move across the region.Highest precipitation amounts should be along and south and east of the Ohio River.The NWS reminds the public it's still too soon to forecast specific amounts of snow and ice at this time. However, the potential does exist for moderate accumulations of ice or sleet and some snow. It could have a considerable impact across portions of the area.
