Ohio County High's Lady Eagle fast-pitch softball team picked up its first win of the season Monday, a 7-6 decision over Warren Central at the Lady Dragons' home field in Bowling Green. The win came after a pair of opening losses in which the OCHS failed to register a hit.
After their season-opening loss at Hancock County, Billy Garner's team hosted Daviess County last Thursday at Russell Field. But the Lady Panthers behind pitcher Lexie Mullin blanked the OCHS girls 16-0 on the scoreboard with the help of excellent defensive backing. Mullin only had one strikeout in the win, but her teammates handled all but one defensive chance.
Caitlyn Lawson, Madelin Bishop, and Madeline Bowlds had three hits each for DCHS with Kaylee Ranburger, Lauren Jones, and Katie Wilmes adding two each. Lady Eagle pitcher Bailey St.Clair struck out three and walked one in taking the loss. The game was stopped after four innings on the run rule.

But Monday at Warren Central, OCHS got their bats going, rapping out a dozen hits in the close win. Ohio County came back from an early 2-0 deficit to lead 4-2 after three innings. Three runs crossed in the top of the second on a WCHS error, Kelsey Leach's single, and back-to-back doubles by the Bennett twins, Madison and Morgan. In the third, Katie Martin led off with a double, took third on a passed ball, and scored on Maranda Stewart's RBI groundball out.
The host Lady Dragons retook the lead at 5-4 in the fourth, with the Lady Eagles rallying to tie the game at 5-5 in the fifth on consecutive singles by Martin, Stewart, and Octaivia Brown. After a scoreless sixth frame, Ohio County plated two run in the top of the seventh on Myka Lindsey's double, driving home Brown and Sierra Bryant who had singled. An OCHS error and a single by Lady Dragon Jayda Bays cut the margin to 7-6 with two outs, but the Lady Eagles got the final out to preserve the win.
Bailey St.Clair struck out 10 WCHS batters in taking the win while Amber LaMastus fanned eight in a losing effort. Madison Bennett, Martin, Stewart, and Brown each hit safely twice for the Lady Eagles.
