Ohio Co. under Winter Storm Watch

The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Ohio County from 6 a.m. Sunday, March 2, until 6 p.m. Monday evening. Significant accumulations of sleet, freezing rain and snow are possible in the watch area. This will result in negative travel impacts Sunday and Monday. Power outages are possible in the areas that see significant ice accumulations. Precipitation will be mostly snow over southern Indiana with significant accumulations of ice and sleet possible over central Kentucky. Freezing rain and sleet are expected late Sunday afternoon and evening across southern Indiana. A changeover to snow is then expected toward dawn on Monday. Across central and north central Kentucky, expect rain until late Sunday night. Precipitation will then change to freezing rain and sleet, before ending as a brief bout of snow on Monday. Confidence is high that significant winter precipitation will affect the area. At this time there remains a considerable amount of uncertainty about the exact timing of precipitation that will fall.  According to the NWS, significant winter precipitation will develop, but the exact timing, location and intensity are yet to be determined.  To view a PDF of the latest weather briefing from the NWS in Louisville, click here.
