Ohio County’s Eagles rapped out 11 hits Thursday in an 11-4 win at Whitesville Trinity, earning their sixth win in seven starts. Saturday the Eagles will honor their five senior players on Senior Day hosting Webster County in a ceremony prior to the varsity game set to start around 2 p.m.
Eagle starter Jake Griffin shut the Raiders out for four innings while his teammates built a 9-0 lead. Trinity scratched out a run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-1, before OCHS tacked on runs in their sixth and seventh at-bats. Skyler Dickens’ three-run home run off Eagle reliever Jesse Burgess in the last of the seventh decided the final score.
Griffin and Burgess combined for 11 strikeouts on the day while two Trinity pitches recorded none. Zach Johnson had three hits and scored three times while Will Davis and Blaine Gillim each drove in three. Kiah Gledhill added two hits and scored four times for the winners.
