By now, most people know OCHS is celebrating "50 Years of Excellence" all year long. This morning during "Eagle time" at OCHS, all the students and staff gathered in the gym for two reasons. The first is the video you see at the top of this story. It is called a "lip dub" and it celebrates all the decades of OCHS, the '60's, '70's, '80's, '90's, '00's and today. The entire school viewed the video for the very first time, which was released on Youtube afterward. The second reason everyone gathered into the gym was for a check presentation, as Claude and Eric Taylor, with State Farm Insurance in Beaver Dam, presented a check for $25,000 to the school. The school received the money for finishing as one of the top 100 schools in the Celebrate My Drive contest several weeks ago. "State Farm is proud of Ohio County High School's efforts to generate excitement among students, faculty and the entire community, to make safe driving commitments and have positive conversations about teen driver safety," Claude Taylor said. "We appreciate all of the wonderful support of the program to help reduce teen crashes and save lives. OCHS is required to invest 10 percent of the grant award on a teen driver safety program for students. They plan to use the remaining funds to improve the educational experience. A complete list of the 100 winning high schools will be available at www.celebratemydrive.com on Dec. 15.
