The Lady Panther win, at Apollo High School’s field, moved them to 13-8-2 on the year and avenged a 2-0 loss to the Lady Eagles Aug. 22 at DCHS’ field. Ohio County saw their season end at 11-7-2. Daviess County took a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of play when an OCHS defender accidently knocked the ball into the Lady Eagle goal. Lady Panther Amber Hurt, being the closest offensive player, got credit for the score. In the 16th minute of the opening half, DCHS’ Madallyn Peveler fired a hard shot over the head of Lady Eagle goalkeeper Katie Mason to up Daviess County’s lead to 2-0 where it stood at halftime. The score stayed 2-0 until the 74th minute of play when Lady Panther Olivia Bradley touched into the OCHS net a ball that started as a corner kick. Wednesday’s match statistics were: Shots-on-goal — DC 8, OC 0. Keeper saves — OC 5 (Mason), DC 0. Daviess County earned a berth in Wednesday’s semifinals with an 8-0 win over 11th District runner-up Grayson County in Monday’s opening round. [gallery link="file" ids="23624,23625,23623"]
