My name is Cecil Gilstrap. I am a candidate for Fifth District Magistrate in Ohio County.
My mother and father raised me here, in Ohio County, and I have raised my children here. I am married to Cheryl Gilstrap. I have a daughter, Amanda Gilstrap Ford and a son, Jared Gilstrap. I also have a son-in-law, Sam Ford and two granddaughters, Emma Belle Ford and Harper Madison. Cheryl and I share one of our greatest joys, spending time with our grandchildren. My father was the late JT Gilstrap and my mother is Betty Bryant Gilstrap.
I am proud to be an American; I am married to an Army Brat and I support our military. I have worked since I was fifteen years old. I started out raising cattle and farming. I helped my dad build numerous private homes around the county; I have since worked supervising the building of churches, schools, judicial buildings, private homes and small industrial projects such as banks, strip malls, and shopping developments.
I believe in family, hard work, and a righteous and merciful God. I want to work for Ohio County because it is my home. I love this county and I want to see continued progress in areas where others have already worked hard to keep our area progressing.
I want continued work on better roads. I would like to see new and safe playgrounds in our communities and I expect to work hard to provide a way for new businesses and employers to move into the county and stay in the county.
I know that my experience working with people in all areas of building and maintaining business and industry will help the county as I work with the Ohio County Fiscal Court to search out and help bring in potential business partners for the county.
I believe in preserving the land around us. I believe in recycling and the importance of thinking years ahead concerning the landfill and waste management.
I am not a politician. I do not have politician friends. I do not have a private agenda. My agenda is the people and progress of Ohio County. I am level-headed and I think before I speak.
I appreciate the opportunity to let you know what I am all about. I would appreciate your support. A vote for me is a voice for you and progress for Ohio County.
