A three-vehicle accident just west of Beaver Dam sent three people to the hospital last Thursday, Aug. 1.
According to the Ohio County Sheriff's Office, around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Cody Mellott, 24, of Hartford, turned his 2011 Dodge Durango left onto Highway 62 West from a private drive and into the path of a camouflage 1999 Dodge Durango headed eastbound driven by Gary Hornsby, 56, of Beaver Dam. Hornsby attempted to avoid the collision but was hit the right front of Mellot's vehicle.
Hornsby's Dodge then went into the westbound lane and struck a 2001 Chevy Blazer driven by Cody Heflin, 23, of Hartford, before overturning in the ditch of the west bound lane. Heflin's Blazer then traveled approximately 100 yards and also overturned in the ditch of the west bound lane.
Heflin's Blazer carried two passengers, Loran Phelps, 30, of Beaver Dam and Sabdiel Santizo of Livermore.
Hornsby, Heflin and Phelps were all taken by ambulance to a hospital, the extent of their injuries is not known.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Ohio County EMS, the Beaver Dam Fire Department and the Kentucky State Police.
