***UPDATE*** 11:06 a.m. 3-28-14 According to the KYTC, he westbound lanes of the Western Kentucky Parkway have reopened to traffic at the 65 mile marker.  All lanes are now open at this site. Motorists should continue to use caution in this area.  Over the next several days a KYTC guardrail contractor will have lane restrictions in this area to rebuild an extended section of guardrail that was damaged by this crash. Some non-structural concrete repairs and handrail replacement work will be scheduled later. Thanks to all the emergency responders who worked through the night to get things moving again. ________________________________________________________________________________ A tractor-trailer crash closed down the Western Kentucky Parkway at the Green River bridge early this morning. The westbound lanes remain closed at this time. According to the Ohio County Sheriff's Department (OCSD), around 12:20 a.m. this morning, the Ohio County 911 Dispatch Center received a call that a tractor-trailer carrying sheets of plywood had crashed at the 66 mile marker on the westbound lane of the Western Kentucky Parkway on the bridge over the Green River. The tractor-trailer, driven by Ishmael Antonio Molina of Charlotte, North Carolina, ran off the road into the median, struck a guard rail, then struck the bridge abutment, spilling its load and finally coming to rest on the bridge blocking both westbound lanes. The OCSD, Beaver Dam Fire Department, Ohio County EMS and the Ohio County Emergency Management Agency responded to the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to the Ohio County Hospital for treatment of his injuries.  Both eastbound and westbound lanes were closed for several hours for clean up of the wreckage. During that time, traffic was detoured, by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) personnel, on to U.S. Highway 231 South at Beaver Dam and on to U.S. Highway 431 South at Central City. As of this posting, the KYTC is reporting the westbound lanes will likely remained closed for at least another hour due to more work required to prepare the westbound lanes for traffic.
