The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Wind Advisory for Ohio County beginning Thursday morning at 9 a.m. and ending at midnight Thursday night/Friday morning.  A warm front will surge northward across Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana overnight. After the warm front passes through, southerly winds will increase dramatically during the day on Thursday as a strong pressure gradient develops across the region. Sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts of 40 to 45 mph will be possible. The winds are expected to subside early Friday morning as a strong cold front presses eastward across Kentucky. High profile vehicles may be blown around by the winds. Motorists should use caution especially on east and west facing roadways. In addition, soggy ground conditions from the recent warmth may result in trees being easily knocked down due to the high winds. Large tree branches broken from recent icing events may also be dislodged and may fall to the ground and possibly into power lines. A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or wind gusts from 45 to 57 mph are expected.
