Tyler Aldridge signed a college grant-in-aid offer Thursday to play football at Union College. Aldridge joins teammate Sam Griffin in becoming the second member of Todd Houston's 2013 Ohio County Eagle squad to accept scholarships offers.
Before a small group of family members, teammates, friends, and media in OCHS' Media Center, Aldridge inked the pact to join the 2014 Bulldogs gridiron team of Tommy Reid. Reid will be entering his 13th season as Bulldog head coach, coming off a 3-8 season in '13.
When asked about his choice of Union College to further his football career, Aldridge said, "During football season, (we) made a highlight film and I sent it out to several different schools like Union, Kentucky Wesleyan, Kentucky Christian and I talked to all the schools and I went to visit them...(at Union) I really liked Union and the coaches. They think I can play at guard or center, and I feel like I'm going to be competitive when I come in."
Union College, located at Barbourville, Ky., is an NAIA school affiliated with the Mid-South Conference's East Division which also includes Bluefield College(VA), University of the Cumberlands (KY), Georgetown College, Kentucky Christian, Lindsey Wilson College, and the University of Pikeville.
Tyler Aldridge is the son of Jaclyn Aldridge and Jay Embry, and the nephew of Josh and Kristina McCoy of Hartford. His academic goals are to major in Business and Sports Management.
