During the January 13 meeting of the Beaver Dam City Commission, the commission began the first steps in securing a loan from the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) for the Beaver Dam Park's amphitheater project.

—The Beaver Dam City Commission was presented with a resolution for an interlocal agreement between the city of Beaver Dam and the KLC.

The city of Beaver Dam has worked with KLC on the financing of a loan for the cost of constructing an amphitheater at the Beaver Dam Park. The construction of the amphitheater will be paid for by the Beaver Dam Tourism Commission, but the tourism commission has to go through the city to apply and receive the loan for the project.

Sandefur told the city commission the resolution will be the first step in receiving the financing through KLC. A contract will be later drawn up between the City of Beaver Dam and the Beaver Dam Tourism Commission stating the city agrees to borrow the money for the project and the tourism commission agrees to pay off the loan.

After approving the interlocal agreement, the KLC will take the loan amount of Beaver Dam's project, along with projects from multiple cities across the state and secure a lump sum loan for all the projects at a lower interest rate. The KLC will then loan each individual city money for its projects.

Davis made a motion to approve the resolution. Robinson seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

— After passing the interlocal resolution between the City of Beaver Dam and the KLC, the commission next had to approve the first reading of an ordinance officially requesting the loan for the amphitheater project through KLC.

Patton made a motion to approve the first reading of the ordinance. Robinson seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

— Sandefur told the commission he would like to approve a motion to advertise for bids on the amphitheater project. The Beaver Dam Tourism Commission had already approved a motion to advertise for bids in a past meeting. The bid opening is projected to be February 25.

Sandefur said that while the bids will come through the Beaver Dam Tourism Commission, he would like the commission to approve the advertising of bids as well.

Davis made a motion to accept bids for the amphitheater project. Robinson seconded the motion. The motion passed with a unanimous vote.
