Blaine Gillim and Michael Griffin combined to toss a no-hitter at host Livingston Central as Ohio County took a one-sided 15-1 Monday night at Smithland. Monday’s win was the Eagles’ fifth in their last six starts. After a scoreless first inning, Ohio County’s Will Davis led off the top of the second with the first of his two triples, and scored on Brice Phelps’ groundball out for a 1-0 lead. But the Eagles plated five more runs in their next at-bat to take a commanding lead. The host Cardinals got their lone run in the bottom of the third on four bases on balls, but never really threatened. Leading 10-1 entering the seventh, Ohio County sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five of them to account for the final margin. Gillim got the win, striking out nine LCHS batters in four innings of work, with Griffin fanning three more over the final three innings. Jake Griffin had three hits in the Eagles’ 16-hit attack while Zach Johnson, Gillim, Davis, Nate Morris, and Zach Gledhill had two each. In the top of the sixth inning, OCHS’ Kiah Gledhill past a milestone in scoring the 100th run of his varsity career. His three runs scored on the night put his career total at 101.
