Ohio County High’s baseball Eagles outhit Webster County 7-5 Tuesday night at Dixon, but fell to the host Trojans 4-2. Tuesday’s loss ended the Eagles’ three-game win streak. Ohio County scored a run in the top of the first inning on Kiah Gledhill’s single and stolen base, a Zach Johnson sacrifice bunt, and Blaine Gillim’s RBI single. But that would be the extent of the OCHS scoring until the top of the fifth when Michael Griffin singled. He was replaced on the base paths by Zach Gledhill who advanced on Lawson Clayton’s hit and scored on Johnson’s single. The Eagles could not score in their last two at-bats. Webster County tied the game in the bottom of the first on an OCHS error, a hit, and a fielder’s choice. Then in the last of the third moved on top 3-1 on three walks and another fielder’s choice. After the Eagles cut the margin to 3-2 in the top of the fifth, the Trojans got an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth a hit and three bases on balls. Winning pitcher Mickey Morse struck out six Eagle batters while walking one. Michael Griffin took the loss, striking out four and walking the same number.
