Just when you think winter might be over, Mother Nature sends another shot your way.According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville, a slow moving cold front will produce two to three inches of rain Tuesday into Wednesday, with locally higher amounts possible. This amount of rain, combined with saturated ground and melting snow will likely lead to flooding issues. There is also the possibility for a few thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and night. Those thunderstorms may also produce gusty winds. In the wake of the cold front, temperatures will rapidly drop below freezing early Wednesday. The rain will change over to sleet and then snow on Wednesday. Forecasts show moderate to heavy snow may result in significant snow accumulations across the area. It's too early to forecast an amount, but several inches of snow will be possible.More information will become available as the winter storm approaches. There is a possibility for watches, warnings, or advisories to be issued over the next 24 to 48 hours.
