The National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville has issued a Special Weather Statement for Ohio County. According to the NWS, a light wintry mix is possible tonight.A period of light snow and wintry mix is beginning tonight, which could result in slick spots on area roads. Precipitation, initially in the form of light snow and sleet, will change over to a mix of light sleet/freezing rain overnight.By Sunday morning, temperatures are expected to rise above freezing changing any frozen precipitation to all rain. A light coating of snow and ice could make for some slick roads Sunday morning, especially on any untreated secondary roads.Looking ahead to next week, on Tuesday into Wednesday night, a more significant storm system will move through the region. This will be a warmer, moist air mass and will bring heavy rainfall and possibly thunderstorms. The storm system could produce two to three inches of rain. This could result in flooding. Gusty winds will also be a part of this storm.
