It appears Ohio County is safe for the next few days when it comes to snow, but the National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting more frigid temperatures for the area. The NWS in Louisville has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Ohio County. The Wind Chill Advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. tonight until 8 a.m. Monday morning. According to the NWS, another round of Arctic air will take over the Ohio Valley bringing very cold and bitter wind chills starting late tonight through Tuesday morning. The Arctic air mass will combine with winds around 10 mph to create bitter wind chills of 10 below to 15 below zero across southern Indiana and portions of Kentucky late tonight into Monday morning. Bitterly cold wind chills will make it dangerous to be outside for prolonged periods of time. Exposed water pipes will be in danger of freezing or bursting. A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
