The good news for Ohio County at this time is the temperature is above freezing and it's just raining. Unfortunately, there are still some hazards to think about and prepare for due to the rain. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for Ohio County until midnight Saturday night/Sunday morning. The region should expect another inch or so of rain this afternoon. Combine the rain with melting snow, a frozen ground and there is a possibility for flooding, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas and urban locations. In addition, minor flooding could develop on some streams and smaller rivers. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be ready to take action should flooding develop. The NWS has also issued a Special Weather Statement for the area in the form of a Travelers Advisory. The Travelers Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. tonight. While temperatures have warmed above freezing in the area, hazardous road conditions exists across portions of central Kentucky. Rain falling on top of snow covered roads has led to slushy road conditions, along with p0nding of water in various intersections and along major travel routes. In addition, road temperatures are still below freezing in many areas due to the recent cold, so black ice will be possible in many areas. Motorists should exercise extreme caution if driving within the advisory area this afternoon. Slow down and allow yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. The Winter Storm Warning issued by the NWS until 6 p.m. this evening has been cancelled.
