Ohio County took a huge hit with the President's Day winter storm, but winter is not over and more precipitation is on the way. First, Ohio County is under a Wind Chill Advisory until 6 a.m. Friday morning. Extremely cold temperatures will continue today and tonight. Wind chill readings have warmed above warning levels, however, wind chills today and tonight will remain between 10 below and 20 below zero at times. The high temperature today may not rise above 10 degrees and the low temperature overnight is forecast to be around -10 degrees. Bitterly cold wind chills will make it dangerous to be outside for prolonged periods of time. Dress in layers to trap body heat and to insulate you from the cold air. Cover as much exposed skin as possible and stay dry if you must venture outdoors. Temperatures will rise into the upper 20s on Friday. The NWS is calling for light snow Friday afternoon to change to a wintry mix Friday night/Saturday morning around midnight. Some minor snow and ice accumulations will be possible. Precipitation will change to all rain on Saturday, as temperatures should reach the mid to upper 40s. Rain will be moderate to heavy at times with one and a half to two and a half inches of rain possible. Locally higher amounts will also be possible. Melting snow and runoff could cause some flooding problems.
