That day they learned how to potentially safe a life and were encouraged to educate others as well. In all, over 300 7th graders received training called Friends and Family CPR during their science class. The training program includes a CPR dummy and an instructional DVD. The program not only teaches the students about cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but also how to help someone who is choking and how to operate an AED (automated external defibrillator) device. The idea behind the one day event is to give the 7th grade students skills to help someone in need. The CPR dummy and DVD are kept by the students and with these resources at their disposal, they now become the educators. Students were given a "homework assignment" of giving the training to as many people as they could in a seven-day period. Parents, siblings, and other family members were the target for this training. OCMS-CPRtraining3
