Right-handed pitcher Jake Griffin signed with Western Kentucky University while second baseman Kiah Gledhill signed with Kentucky Wesleyan College. At least one more senior member of Bobby Wise’s team is also expected to accept a scholarship offer this season. Griffin was one of eight to sign with Western last Tuesday. He had a stellar season in the spring of 2014, striking out over 100 batters in 55 innings of work while compiling a 6-2 record. The Kentucky West Junior All-Star was a third team All-State selection, and lost by one vote to Muhlenberg County’s Kyle Moore in Third Region “Player of the Year” balloting. Gledhill, a four-year starter for the Eagles, batted .354 last season while scoring 28 times and driving in 22 for the 18-13 OCHS team that reached the semifinals of the regional tournament for the second straight year. He was named first-team Academic All-State and won his team’s Gold Glove award.
