
The Kentucky State Police (KSP) arrested a Reynolds Station man on numerous charges after a pursuit on U.S. 60 West in Owensboro.
According to a press release from the KSP, last night around 7:40 p.m., Sergeant Mitch Hampton tried to stop a 2007 Ford Mustang on U.S. 60 for reckless driving.
The driver would not stop for Sergeant Hampton and fled westbound on U.S. 60, towards Henderson. In response to the pursuit, KSP troopers, in the 11000 block of Spotsville, deployed the Stinger tire deflation system to the fleeing car. After the car was disabled, the driver and passenger abandoned it and fled on foot.
The passenger was quickly apprehended, however, the driver fled the scene and stayed hidden in the area. An Owensboro Police Department canine unit responded to the scene and the canine was able to find the driver.

The driver was identified as John Stephen McDowell, 37, of Reynolds Station. McDowell was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center and charged with reckless driving, first degree fleeing/evading police in a motor vehicle, first degree fleeing/evading police on foot, first degree wanton endangerment, first degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property up to $10,000, aggravated DUI, speeding greater than 26 mph over the speed limit, failure to give oncoming vehicle half of the highway and improper registration plates.
McDowell's passenger was identified as Charley I. Aldridge, 33, of Hartford. She was also lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center and charged with second degree fleeing/evading police on foot and first degree possession of a controlled substance.
During the pursuit, it was revealed the fleeing car was reported stolen from Roberts Brothers Auto Mart in Owensboro.
KSP troopers were assisted by Owensboro Police Department and Henderson County Sheriff’s Department.
