***UPDATE*** 10/10/14 4 p.m. The NWS in Louisville has issued a Tornado Watch for Ohio County. The watch is in effect until midnight, Tuesday, Oct. 14.   The National Weather Service in Louisville has placed Ohio County under a Flash Flood Watch until Tuesday at 7 p.m. The NWS also warns of the potential for severe weather this afternoon into tonight. A potent upper level weather system and cold front will produce widespread shower and thunderstorm activity with heavy rainfall tonight into Tuesday. Storms are expected to train along the cold front producing torrential rainfall and excessive runoff, which will lead to localized flash flooding. One to two-inch rainfall amounts are expected through Tuesday, with some areas possibly picking up three inches of rain. The low pressure system bringing the rain, will also produce scattered thunderstorms across southern Indiana and central Kentucky from mid afternoon through this evening. Cells west of I-65 have the potential to become strong to severe in nature with damaging winds, torrential rainfall and an isolated tornado as the main threats. The squall line will weaken as it moves east. Although the line is expected to lose some of its punch, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will still be threats, especially before midnight. Flooding problems will continue after midnight. On Tuesday, strong to severe storms, with a flooding threat, could continue. The original squall line may weaken Tuesday morning with a new line of storms following behind it late Tuesday morning and into the early morning hours. Counties to our west have already been placed under a Tornado Watch until 7 p.m. tonight. At this time, Ohio County is under a Tornado Watch until midnight, Tuesday, Oct. 14. Please be prepared, stay alert and stay safe.
