The National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville has issued a Special Weather Statement for Ohio County and the surrounding area. According to the NWS, several severe weather hazards will be a threat late Monday night ahead of a slow-moving, but powerful, storm system. Steady southerly winds through a deep layer in the atmosphere will bring plenty of moisture, and an unsettled airmass, to the area over the next day and a half. This will set the stage for an organized line of strong, and potentially, severe storms to move through late Monday night. The main threats, Monday night into Tuesday, will be isolated instances of damaging winds, along with the possibility for localized flooding. Secondary threats will include the chance for an isolated tornado and hail. The most likely locations for severe weather to occur will be along and west of I-65 with localized flooding possible across southern Indiana and central Kentucky. The Storm Prediction Center has Ohio County under a slight risk for severe weather on Monday.
