Ohio County Schools Superintendent Scott Lewis received an outstanding evaluation from the members of the Ohio County School Board at its June meeting.
Each year the school board members rate the performance of the schools superintendent in several areas, as mandated by the state. The board members turn over their evaluation to the School Board Chairperson, who compiles the results. Each performance standard is rated from zero to four, with zero being Unacceptable and four being Outstanding.
At the June 26 school board meeting, School Board Chairperson Jeff Evans read the board's evaluation of Lewis. Lewis received a four or Outstanding on nine of the ten standards the board members were asked to rate. He was rated a three or Excellent for his performance in policy and governance.
Evans told those in attendance the school board was pleased with Lewis and the job he has done.
"The board felt like the district is moving in the right direction," Evans said. "The most important thing is, we are doing what is best for the (students) and making decisions (with the students in mind)."
Board member Jay Raymond made a motion to accept the superintendent's evaluation. Board member Dwight Raymond seconded the motion. The motion passed by a unanimous vote.

In other Ohio County Schools news, Beaver Dam Elementary has a new principal.
Ginger Tichenor, the daughter of former Beaver Dam Elementary principal Don Williams, was selected by the Beaver Dam Elementary SBDM council to become the new principal. Tichenor took over the position on July 1. Tichenor had worked in the school system for 19 years before becoming Beaver Dam's principal.
The former principal of Beaver Dam Elementary, Michelle Magan, resigned from the position at the end of the school year. Her resignation was effective on June 30.
