On June 17, outgoing Chamber President David Figg presented a list of 2014-2015 officers and directors to the Chamber members. He then asked for a motion to accept the list of nominees. After receiving a motion and a second to install the officers and Board of Directors, the Chamber members approved the motion with a unanimous vote. The officers of the Chamber of Commerce are as follows: President Chris Hunt, of McKown & Hunt; First Vice-President Chase Vincent, of Triple S, Inc.; Second Vice-President Seth Southard, of the Ohio County Board of Education; Secretary Tiffany Calvert, of the Ohio County Extension Office; Treasurer Josh Coppage, of Voyage Technology; Immediate Past President David Figg, of Rice’s Pharmacy. Next the outgoing members of the Chamber Board of Directors were recognized for their time and work with the Chamber of Commerce. Both former Chamber Presidents Figg and CeCe Robinson and former Chamber Secretary Debbie Boehmann will come off the Board of Directors for 2014-2015. Each was given a plaque in honor of their work. Later in the meeting, Vincent introduced State Auditor Edelen to the Chamber members. Edelen is in his first term at State Auditor and was the former Chief of Staff for Governor Steve Beshear. Edelen was responsible for uncovering the corruption of the former administration of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, examining the spending practices of public schools in Kentucky and strengthening the state’s cyber security protection. He touched on each of those topics during his speech to the Chamber attendees. At one time, it was thought Edelen might run for Kentucky Governor in 2015, but he recently announced he would instead seek a second term as State Auditor. He did not rule out a possible run for the governorship in the future. To hear the complete audio of Edelen’s speech to the Chamber of Commerce, click here, or use the audio player below.
