Magistrate Kenny Autry

Fifth District Magistrate Kenny Autry, still upset about voter complaints, has vowed to file a complaint with the Kentucky State Board of Elections. During the June 10 meeting of the Ohio County Fiscal Court, Autry, who was defeated in the Republican Primary Election for Fifth District Magistrate, said he received more calls from voters in his district who had problems during the May Primary Election. At the May 27 fiscal court meeting, Autry first informed the court about calls he received from disgruntled voters in his district. After taking the calls, Autry made a map of the trouble spots. He claims several residents in his district were sent to the wrong precincts during the election. He also discovered several residents who were placed in the wrong district. Most of the problems, according to Autry, had to do with Fifth District residents being sent to Dundee, in the Fourth District, to vote. Autry believed those residents should have voted in a Horse Branch or Olaton precinct. He also took issue with the distance some voters had to travel to vote when another precinct in the same district was closer. Autry said the county’s Board of Elections has been made aware of many of the problems, but he was unaware if any decisions have been made. Because of the problems, Autry said he would file a complaint with the State Board of Elections on his behalf and on behalf of the citizens who have contacted him. According to the agenda for today’s fiscal court meeting, county clerk Bess Ralph and the county’s board of elections are scheduled to come before the court.
