Add Jake Griffin’s name to the list of Ohio County High baseball players who have earned All-State honors.  Griffin, a junior pitcher/utility player for Bobby Wise’s Eagles was listed among the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches’ Association’s 2014 All-State team as a third team selection.

The fire-balling righthander compiled a 6-2 record this season, striking out over 100 batters in 50 innings of work.  He was an All-10th District, All-Third Region, and All-Area selection as well as being picked by Third Region coaches to represent the region in this week’s East-West Junior All-Star Classic in Louisville.  He finished runner-up in the voting for Third Region “Player of the Year.”

Other region picks on the KHSBCA All-State teams released this week were:  Second team — Kyle Moore, Muhlenberg County.  Third team — Kolton Keown, Hancock County; Stewart Currie, Daviess County; Jakob Shuler, Apollo.  Henderson County’s Kaleb Duckworth was the state’s co-Mr. Baseball along with Lexington Tates Creek’s Devin Hairston.

Two members of Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park High team were also included, second-team pick Alex Miller and third-teamer Jonathan Cavanaugh.  The duo were members of a Panther team Griffin beat during the Eagles’ Spring Break trip to Louisville.
