Ohio County’s TLBC team won three of their last four games, including splitting a doubleheader with Daviess County Tuesday night at Leach Field. The TLBC Summer League ends regular-season play Thursday with a two-day post-season tournament set for Friday and Saturday. With one of the best records in the nine-team league, Ohio County will host tournament games Friday night at their home field with further game sites to be determined by Friday’s outcomes.
On June 12, Ohio County traveled to Calhoun where they won both ends of a doubleheader against host McLean County. Andrew Dorris got the mound win in the first game, a lopsided 13-3 contest ended early on the 10-run rule. The game was marred by McLean County’s Thomas Cessna suffering a broken ankle sliding into second base on a steal play. The injury, which required surgery, will knock Cessna out of a chance to play in the East/West Junior All-Star game at Louisville. No game particulars were available on that game.
The second game was much closer, with Ohio County pulling out a 4-3 win. Logan Eaton struck out six McLean County batters through four innings of work with Kiah Gledhill pitching the final inning to earn a save. Cole Bullock had two hits for the winners with the other three Ohio County hits being doubles.
