Beaver Dam Tourism Commission chairman Jason Tierney holds up conceptual drawings of a proposed amphitheatre to be built in the Beaver Dam Family Park next year Saturday at the Concert in the Park.

The Beaver Dam Tourism Commission, along with the city of Beaver Dam, plans to open the Beaver Dam Park's new amphitheater in a big way this October. According to the City of Beaver Dam's Facebook page, the amphitheater will host a grand opening concert on Oct. 4 with country music stars Lonestar and Joe Diffie as the headliners. The concert will also feature up and coming country act, Brasher/Bogue, along with Owensboro band, Insulated. Lonestar has three platinum records, nine number one singles on Billboard's Hot Country Songs and their song "Amazed" hit number one on the Billboard Top 100. Diffie has two gold and two platinum albums with 35 songs to hit Billboard's Hot Country Songs, including five number one singles. Diffie's hits include "Pickup Man," "Home" and "Third Rock from the Sun." The Brasher/Bogue band, like the band Insulated, has Ohio County ties. Andy Brasher of Brasher/Bogue is a Pleasant Ridge native and graduated from Ohio County High School. Brasher/Bogue's latest album is titled "By God" and their music can be heard on WBKR. Insulated, who has played many times in Ohio County, has connections to Beaver Dam. The rhythm guitarist for the band is Brandon Crawford, a Beaver Dam native. This will be the second concert presented by the Beaver Dam Tourism Commission. In October of last year, the tourism commission brought in John Michael Montgomery, with special guests Parrots of the Caribbean and Insulated, for a free concert. At the Montgomery concert, the city and tourism commission announced plans for construction of the amphitheater. According to Mayor Paul Sandefur, the concert is just the beginning of the tourism commission's plans for the amphitheater. "I really believe this facility is going to be good for the community. We foresee a number of events from music to drama," Sandefur said. "There has already been discussions on various concerts such as a bluegrass festival, some of the classic rock bands and possibly a gospel concert. The possibilities are endless!" Sandefur also believes the amphitheater will be an attraction that will sell itself. "We have had organizations call asking about the facility, its capabilities and when it will open. I believe the crossroads of the parkways will help us too. Easy travel to Beaver Dam." Tickets will go on sale in July and will cost $22 and $24. Tickets will be available for purchase by phone and online. All tickets are general admission. Concert goers are asked to bring their lawn chairs. More information will be released in the upcoming weeks.  For more information on this event and upcoming events, like the Beaver Dam Tourism Facebook page.
