The Office of Ohio County Solid Waste will take a new approach to catch people involved with illegal dumping. Since September 2013, Ohio County Solid Waste has picked up over 32 tons of garbage, filling 2,361 garbage bags. Trash including household furniture, TVs, roofing, tires, fencing and more were also picked up off county roads. Ohio County Solid Waste will now tackle the problem in a new way. The agency will be setting up cameras in many locations to watch for illegal dumping. According to a press release from Ohio County Solid Waste, these cameras will be monitored around the clock. The agency believes the only way to slow down the problem of littering is to hold people accountable for dumping trash. There will be a fine of $500 when littering and when someone is caught, the fine will be enforced. Citizens can report littering at ohiocountyema.com or call 270-298-4412.
