When it comes to the first day of school in Ohio County, or any county for that matter, no news seems to be good news.
Last year, the first day of school was plagued with bussing issues as the school system was creating and tweaking the bus routes in order to be more efficient which caused lengthy delays for the first few days and upsetting more than a few parents. Things smoothed out from there and many thousands of miles were cut from the bus routes saving time and money for the school system.
This past Wednesday, Together We Care and Ohio County's elected officials and volunteers handed out pencils for all the children as the entered their schools, a program that has been going on for many years.
